What a refreshing perspective. Honestly, I can't say that I've given much thought to the distinction between power and force, but stumbling upon this article has made me think twice. You provide a simple way to reorient oneself in the face of everyday obstacles. Very introspective!
When we're able to name things, we understand them better—and this article is a clear example of that. I really like how your post brings clarity to things that may seem complex on the surface but are, in fact, essentials. Thank you!
Power does sound like a nice way to go, but with it also comes the need for resilience and patience. We need to wait for the right wind, while diligently tending to our sailboat, so that it can keep going until the time comes to harness the wind...
This article beautifully illustrates the difference between Force and Power in navigating life. It's a reminder to cultivate awareness and adaptability, rather than relying solely on sheer effort. Ultimately, it's about finding balance and harmony in our journey. Thank you for this profound perspective, Kevin!
I get the reasoning for making the distinction between the two. As the owner of a 40 foot sailboat, my experience is the distinction does not hold up in real life. My boat had sails AND an auxiliary diesel engine precisely because there often is no wind at all or the wind direction is against the course you want to make. Also, under sail you must adjust the sails continuously to avoid being avoid being overpowered or underpowered. This effort depletes human energy that causes physical and mental fatigue.
I see this as also an excellent illustration of the difference between ego (force) and Soul (Power). I also wonder if your choice of using "man" with force and "woman" with Power was intentional or incidental? Congruent and appropriate from my perspective, but just curious.

I'm glad it was helpful, Alexandra! I like simple truths.

Thank you, Sinem. I appreciate that and am so glad it connects with you.
Such a succinct reminder of power vs force. The simplicity of analogue really helps the concept land. Thank you.
I love simplicity. :)
So, you are saying, Kevin, that all of Star Wars has to be reworded with "May the Power be with you."
Jokes aside, I like your comparison with a motor boat and a sail boat. Very apt.
Love this…I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of gentleness as power💜

Creativity comes with Power.
